The web site tells the story of the cultural and political awakening among Sami in Norway during the post-war period and their emergence as a separate and indigenous people despite internal cultural differences.  The site contains a virtual version of the Sápmi exhibition of Tromsø Museum, a list of more than 60 supplementary and illustrated texts and downloadable video-interviews with English sub-titles. The site can be used as teaching material as well as a source of information on a modern indigenous movement.

Fossil, øgleliten
This summer, an approx. 240 million year old and 6 metres (20ft) long fossil of an Ichtysaurus is being excavated at Spitsbergen. You can see it in Tromsø Musuem. Chances are that this fossil represents a new species - the longest reptile ever to be discovered in the Svalbard archipelago.
